12/17/2023 Indianapolis – Carl Bunker, a controversial tree paparazzi photographer from Kentucky known for aggressively stalking and photographing trees, has now set his sights on a new target – homes with elaborate holiday light displays.
Bunker, who is currently wanted for wildlife abuse in New Mexico and indecent tree exposure in Kentucky, was spotted this weekend lurking around residential neighborhoods with a long telephoto lens camera taking photos of houses lit up with festive Christmas lights and inflatable lawn decorations.
“We spotted him hiding behind a snowman decoration in the Johnson’s front yard taking close-up shots of their twinkling icicle lights,” said area resident Patricia Downs. “He had on camouflage and night vision goggles – it was really bizarre and creepy behavior.”
Other residents have made complaints about the suspected wildlife abuser turned holiday light stalker. “I was preparing a late night snack in my elf pajamas when I saw a face with a huge zoom lens camera lens pressed against my window photographing our light-up reindeer and candles,” said shaken homeowner Fred Carpenter.
Police are warning homeowners that Bunker is not allowed to photograph private residences without permission and to call 9-1-1 if spotted. “Carl Bunker has moved from victimizing helpless trees to terrorizing innocent community members celebrating the holidays,” said Police Chief Bradley Thomas. “We take a very dim view of his unlawful outdoor home decor stalking activity.”
Bunker remains elusive…and at large during an ongoing search effort. Police have added trespassing to the growing list of charges against Bunker. They released an all-points bulletin in the tri-state area this weekend. Bunker is considered armed (with his Canon DSLR) and dangerous. Report any suspicious activity to 1-800-MACABRE.
