Local Dad Stumped By Daughter’s Cryptic “IJBOL” Text

8/20/2023 Concord, NH – Local father Ned Jones revealed this week that he was utterly confused by a strange text he recently received from his teen daughter Katie. The mystifying text simply read “IJBOL.”

“I just stared at it for minutes trying to figure out what she meant,” said the puzzled father. “My first thought was it was an acronym for ‘I just barfed on Luke,’ her boyfriend. But that seemed highly unlikely.”

Jones then supposedly spent hours trying to decode his daughter’s message, coming up with various scenarios like “I Just Bought Olive Loaf” and “I Juggle Beanbags On Ledges.” However none seemed to make much sense.

After asking his coworkers for help deciphering the cryptic text, Jones finally broke down and called his daughter. “I said ‘Katie, I have to know, what on earth does IJBOL mean?’ And she was like ‘Um, I Just Burst Out Laughing, dad.’ I felt like such an idiot! It was a response to a joke I had sent earlier in the day.”

Laughing, Katie said, “Why didn’t you just use Google?”

“Let’s just say I was humiliated. I’m glad it was nothing inappropriate or illegal,” the relieved father stated.

“Now that I’m fully enlightened, I think I’ll take her advice next time to avoid any confusion. Google first and then respond.”
