8/4/2023 Arlington, VA – In an effort to help readers track the seemingly endless scandals, allegations, and lawsuits surrounding Donald Trump, Politico has launched an interactive data visualization dashboard detailing every charge, impeachment, and indictment against the former president stretching back decades.
Dubbed the “Trump Charges & Indictments Dashboard,” the new Politico tool allows users to chart, filter, and compare the myriad criminal and civil offenses, lawsuits, congressional rebukes, and impeachments accumulated by Trump over his 50+ year career in real estate, reality TV, politics, and business.
“We wanted to give readers a user-friendly way to make sense of the tsunami of questionable behavior, rule-breaking, and alleged corruption that has followed Trump since his early New York real estate days in the 1970s,” said Politico editor Carrie Simon.
The innovative dashboard allows toggling between bar charts, pie graphs, and scatter plots to reveal insightful trends about Trump’s 5 decades of dubious deeds. Users can filter by type of charge, over what time period, and whether claims were proven true. The tracker is sortable by date, severity, and which part of Trump’s empire was involved.
“It’s truly staggering to visualize just how long Trump has been mired in scandals and controversy when you look at this sea of data points,” said Simon. “We see key spikes in the 80s during his volatile casino days, the early 2000s when he battled countless lawsuits, and of course the huge explosion of impeachments, fraud claims and indictments from 2016 onward when he ran for president and his post presidency after the 2020 election.”
She added, “We believe this tool will help our readers grasp the full historical context of Trump’s corruption and wrongdoings dating back to the 1970s – it’s really quite an impressive rap sheet for any one man.”
