7/14/2023 Las Vegas – In a shocking twist, scientists at Area 51 thought they had discovered a portal to another dimension. The portal was found by accident when a construction worker was removing drywell in preparation for building renovation. A researcher, Bob Yungas, was nearby testing a new device that was supposed to detect anomalies in space-time. He noticed a strange fluctuation in the readings and looked up to see the construction worker standing there next to the portal.
Yungas asked the construction worker to stand back while he investigated it. Bob observed a strange rectangular frame flush within the building’s wall. The frame itself was made of solid wood with wood panels. The portal appeared to have some sort of hinge on one side. About waist high, there was a protruding metallic circular stub or knob. Unfamiliar with this portal, Yungas waved his hand in front of the metallic circle hoping it was motion activated. Nothing happened. A second wave of his security badge at the knob resulted in nothing as well. At this point, he reported the portal and his findings to his manager, Dr. X for additional guidance.
“We have no idea why this portal exists or how it works,” Dr. X, the head of the research team, said to Yungas. “It seems to be a natural phenomenon, not something we created or triggered. It’s very puzzling and frustrating. This could be a major scientific discovery. Or it could be something more sinister. We just don’t know yet.”
The construction worker, who had been listening to the scientists’ conversation, stepped forward. “I think I can help you with that,” he said. “That’s not a portal. It’s just an old door.”
The scientists looked at him in disbelief. “An old door?” asked Dr. X. “But it looks like a portal.”
“It does,” said the construction worker. “But that’s just because it’s been covered up for so long. It’s actually a door that probably leads to the warehouse in back of the facility.”
The scientists were stunned. They had been so focused on the portal that they hadn’t even considered the possibility that it was just a door.
“Can you show us?” asked Dr. X.
The construction worker nodded and turned the doorknob. The door swung open, revealing a long hallway that led to the warehouse. The scientists stepped through the door and into the hallway. They were amazed to see it exactly as the construction worker had said. It was an old, dusty hallway that led to the warehouse.
“This is incredible,” said Dr. X. “We had no idea this was here.”
“I know,” smiled the construction worker. “It’s been hidden for years. But I guess it’s time for it to come out of the shadows.”
“We were so excited when we first saw the portal. We thought it was our chance to finally make contact with another civilization. But then we stepped through and found ourselves in the back warehouse filled with boxes, crates, and broken furniture. It was a real letdown. It’s not what we hoped for, but it’s still convenient,” said Dr. X. “We can just pop in and out of the warehouse whenever we need something. It’s like having our own personal wormhole.”
“I was so excited at first, thinking that I had made the discovery of the century,” said Yungas. “I was really hoping to meet some aliens. I feel like such an idiot.”
The researchers hope that one day they will find or create another portal that leads to somewhere more interesting and exciting. Perhaps they’ll find a way across time and space into other galaxies and dimensions. The possibilities are endless.
