A man from Florida has been left red-faced after he spent six months planning and executing a prank that he thought would land him in the Guinness World Records. Brent Taylor, 34, claimed he had read about a record for holding a prank for the longest time and decided to challenge it. He spent half a year secretly setting up elaborate jokes on his friends, family and co-workers, ranging from fake lottery tickets to exploding cakes. He documented his pranks on social media and amassed a large following of amused and annoyed viewers. He even hired a professional cameraman to film his final prank, which involved dressing up as a clown and jumping out of a giant cake at his boss’s birthday party.

However, when he contacted Guinness World Records to submit his evidence, he was shocked to learn that there was no such record for holding a prank. He had misread the article he had seen online, which was actually about a record for holding a plank – an exercise that involves lying face down with your elbows and toes on the floor. The current record for holding a plank is eight hours, 15 minutes and 15 seconds, set by George Hood in 2020.

Taylor’s friends, family and co-workers were not impressed by his mistake and took to social media to roast him mercilessly. Some of the comments included:

– “Wow, Brent, you really pranked yourself there. Maybe next time you should try reading before you act.”

– “I hope you enjoyed wasting your time and money on this stupid stunt. You know what they say: a fool and his money are soon parted.”

– “You should have gone for the plank record instead. At least that would have given you some abs.”

– “This is the funniest thing I’ve ever seen. Not your pranks, but your face when you found out there was no record. Priceless.”

– “Way to go….Brent. DORK. LOL. You’re not good at planking either.”

Taylor said he was embarrassed by his blunder but tried to laugh it off. He said he had no regrets about his pranks and hoped they had brought some joy to people during these difficult times. He also said he was not giving up on his dream of breaking a world record and was already looking for another challenge. “I’m not a quitter,” he said. “I’m sure there’s a record out there that I can break. Maybe something to do with pies or balloons or something. I’ll keep you posted.”
